Hangin’ with the fishes.

We went out for a walk in the neighborhood this Bank Holiday Monday and while on our travels, we happened upon a pond inhabited by these rather elegant and energetic Koi fish.

I took the below video and suggest watching it in full screen mode in the hope that you will find it as relaxing as I do.

 

I’m told that the collective noun for Koi is a Koromo, but I’m not exactly sure if that’s the truth – or even if these fish were definitely Koi. Whatever the case, it was a pleasure to watch them going about their business, indifferent to the worries of the world above the shallows. Koi by name, coy by nature.

  1. “Sleeping with the fishes” is an expression describing someone who’s drowned, usually as a result of being killed by “the mob.” Was that what you were alluding to with your title?
