Earlier this year, the market research organization, Ipsos, conducted a poll to find “The World’s Favourite City”. Somewhat unsurprisingly, New York came in as the highest rate destination amongst the 18,000 “global citizens” polled. I was fortunate enough to have travelled to New York a few years ago and although I am very much in love with my current home of London , there really is something quite special about “The Big Apple.”

The thing about New York, you see, is that all the cliches are true. There really is an buzz, an energy, an indescribable… “Something” to it. My stay in the city was only supposed to last for 1 week, however, due to the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull and subsequent grounding of all transatlantic flights, I was afforded another 7 days in the city that never sleeps. Here are just a few pictures of the things I saw.
