Tired of taking terrible pictures, I bought a new camera a few weeks back and have been trying to improve my photography skills at every available opportunity since. The woman and I found ourselves at a loose end this afternoon, so we packed my camera and a couple of sandwiches and took the train to Ealing Broadway. I wouldn’t say that I’m thrilled with any of the pictures I took, but I was glad of the practice. Here are the best images I shot. You can follow my adventures in photography here.
I saw this sign in a barber’s window and had to photograph it.
The goal (from my perspective) is not necessarily to take good pictures, but rather to know what is wrong with the bad ones! If you can define what you don’t like, they you will have opportunities to correct things! Have fun! 🙂

Great shots. I know from having acquiring a new camera about 18 months ago, it takes time to learn how to “drive” it. I’m still learning….Happy experimenting and happy shooting!
That’s a great way of putting it: learning how to drive.
If I may be so bold (please forgive the impudence), I think it is never so much my camera that is at fault, as much as it’s my lack of patience, a frustration at not knowing how to get the camera to record what I am seeing, and even the fault of my own artistic eye, for not pushing through my own self-imposed limitations.
