The citizens of Wisconsin are a people after my own heart. Combining a love of beer, a fixation with cheese based food products and a cheerful sense of humor, ‘sconsonites (‘sconsonians?) are very easy to get along with. Traveling North from Chicago, I made my way to Milwaukee, home of the Miller Brewery, Harley Davidson and birthplace of music legend, Les Paul. It is city of stone and iron, factories and warehouses. It’s working class, it’s humble, it’s tough. In Milwaukee you are never too far away from a cold beer or a good burger. I could bore you with a protracted – and most probably plagiarized from Wikipedia – history of the region but perhaps Alice Cooper would provide a better service in that department:
With urban gentrification projects currently in process, Milwaukee is transforming into a competitive 21st century city and while this may be welcomed by the area’s more bourgeois denizens, I fear that the city may lose the gritty edge that makes it such a unique and wonderful place.
