Well, this has been an interesting year, hasn’t it? Look, it’s a pretty rough time, we all know that, but wallowing isn’t going to help anybody, so try let’s try and be positive, okay? To keep myself somewhat sane, and direct my energies to something constructive, I’ve spent the last several months growing this Notflix thing that I made last year. After spending dozens of hours writing, re-writing, accidentally deleting, and then re-re-writing code, and faffing around with image technical specifications, the blasted thing appears to finally be somewhat stable. Go check it out, hopefully it should provide some light-hearted entertainment in these dark and overly politicised times. George Orwell would say that such a remark is in itself a political statement, but can we please just give all that talk a rest for a minute?
After a very vindicating initial flourish of interest in Notflix in December of last year, traffic somewhat quietened, so I decided to start posting content to social media as a marketing exercise. The experiment looks to have been somewhat of a modest success, and the Notflix Instagram account should hopefully win its 5,000th follower sometime in the next couple of weeks. Initially, I was just posting screengrabs of the the show pages from the main Notflix site on there, however, making use of my limited Photoshop skills, I’ve moved toward more straightforward film/TV memes and parodies. Below is a sample of what I mean. I hope you enjoy, and talk to you soon.
One last thing, I’m thinking of submitting Notflix to some blog/website awards, but haven’t the first inclination as to what kind of awards are out there accepting applications. If you know of any, please hit me up in the comments below.
